Finally its out. Data Airlines 009. Transregional des pyrenees. Gameboy electro house composed with LSDj by Dubmood in 2007 re-edited and re-released in 2009 and just like the case with British Rail, Sveriges Järnvägar or the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français, heavily delayed until 2010 by reasons force majeur. We are sorry for that but at least its out. Here you are, the latest Data Airlines release is something we have been working on for quite a while. A compilation of chip covers/remixes of The Knife Songs. For you who don’t know The Knife, its an electronic music duo, Karin and Olof Dreijer,  from Gothenburg Sweden who has been around since the beginning of 2000 and has had quite an important influence on later Swedish electronic music. Its been on our mind to do this compilation for some time but we though of inviting some friends over to add some adversity to it.  Most of them have been seen here on Data Airlines before and the majority of them are from the demo scene.  We are very pleased to announce the comeback of Zalza (Rebels^Tequila) and Per Almered aka Excellence in Art (XiA) on the chip music scene since their music has been very important and inspiring for allot of us in the past. We would also like to re thank Fr0st from the amiga crew Tulou and pr0f / comic bakery for the cover-art. GEM TOS debut EP featuring 4 tracks, 2 originals and 2 remixes.
All songs are composed by Gem Tos and produced by Dubmood. All in all 20 minutes of pseudominimalistic chip techno with an YM2149 twist.

And its finally here after lying around for over a year, abandoned on my harddrive, thanks to Frost drawing a very well fitting cover. For the ones of you who have no idea, C’etait mieux en RDA (Det var bättre i DDR) was a full lengt CD and the first Data Airlines release back in 2007, 1 hour of gameboy music made in LSDj and mixed with two gameboy DMGs.  The physical copy was soldout through Rolemodels label Rebel Pet Set in a few days (._.) but is still avalible on Beatport/Itunes etc. Directly after the success (?) of the first volume, I decided to record some of my then recently made gameboymaterial into a second volume wich I did in the Data Airlines studios in november 2008, then something caught my attention and I forgot about it. I recently found it, looking at me with bambieeyes from a temp-folder, and oldschool amigahero Frost kindly made me this test drive USSR cover-art. (Thankyou!).  Exept for that, the difference since the first volume is that all the material has been played over and over and over by me on numerous live-concerts since mars 2008, so you will probably recognise alot of material, and that its alot of remixes included. The Seventh Data Airlines release is a remix-compil of dubmoods chiptune classic from 2002, Toffelskater. Featuring remixes by dubmood himself, a co-op remix with french electro-producer Facteur and a debut by a promising girl called GEM TOS, producing music with her Atari ST and a Roland TR 707. Hope to see more from her in the phuture!

DUBMOOD – Atari-Ska L’Atakk

A smashing ChipDub-Ska-EP coming here from the ATARI tracker legend Dubmood.
Six tracks full of love for the rough Ska classics of old, bursting with sheer
virtousity and an obession for funky details. A sure winner full of hits, this
grooving beauty is bound to make you dance while grinning from ear to ear.

The EP starts off with a great version of the Skatalites-classic “Exodus” (who
in turn took the theme from E. Gold’s oscar winning movie score), followed up
by a fine Liberators-cover. A top “Monkey Island” dub, featuring the legendary
title theme by Michael Z. Land, is around too. The Maytals‘ “Pressure Drop”,
later covered by punk-rocker icons The Clash (among others), is followed by
the highly addictive “VodSka-Dance”, featuring some popular Russian folk lore.
Most notably THIS alltime classic. A tune you’ll whistle along for days – so
beware! The final track is a collab with chiptunes roots rocker GOTO 80, a
remix of it can be found on his “_2_4×4″-EP over HERE. See all details below.

For the technically interested: all songs were tracked by Dubmood on the
Atari 1040 STfm in maxYMizer, made by gwEm, using the YM2149 soundchip. That
is, 4bit sound on 3 channels, one squarewave generator and one noisegenerator
on a 16bit 8mhz machine with 1mb of RAM and no samples used!

Facteur has put out some of his old songs as an EP called Legend on our sublabel Fyllecell Records.
Facteur, a nancien-exil in Marseille, presents a taste his early work from the years before he met Dubmood. An analogic story of the mid 2000s south-french touch, electro and cuttechno a bloque.
